Female college freshmen get sexually harassing welcome message as they arrive on campus

The first day of college for many students throughout the country is the start of the next chapter in their lives, a moment they will look back on with fond memories for years to come. For a number of Old Dominion University students, however, their first day on campus will unfortunately be hard to forget for a more uncomfortable reason.

According to Jezebel, last week as many female freshman arrived on the Old Dominion University campus, located in Norfolk, VA, were welcomed with large banners that read “Rowdy and fun, hope your baby girl is ready for a good time…”, “Freshman daughter drop off” and “Go ahead and drop off mom too.” These banners, which hung over the balconies of a local off-campus fraternity.

It is obvious that many students were left feeling extremely uncomfortable with the sexual harassing messages. The university quickly shared their displeasure in the messages and released a statement on Sunday through their Facebook page regarding the incident.

The Old Dominion University’s Student Government Association released a video, sharing their response to the incident, on YouTube (video can be seen below).

There has been no official word of what ramifications those involved will face from the school.
