I might write about Dave Grohl a little too often here but hell, let’s face it, he’s one of the greatest musicians to ever grace us on stage and, with what he did yesterday during a concert, shows why he is the greatest of all time!

During a concert on Sunday at the Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre in Greenwood Village, Colorado, the Foo Fighters were playing an acoustic version of their hit My Hero.

In the middle of the song Dave Grohl took a few moments to talk to the crowd about his “theory” of when the band comes to town to play a number of shows night after night. Grohl started talking about there is always the “first night” when he noticed one drunk fan weeping.

That’s when the Dave Grohl we all love came out.

“I love you man, thank you,” Grohl said to the crying fan. “Holy shit, you know what man, fuck that speech I was just gunna to make, I want to sing this shit to you right now. I am going to sing this fucking song right in your face, man to man, prison style! I’m going man to man! Me and you! I want some real tears. You’re gunna sing it with me!”

Grohl then went on to get the fan closer to the stage.

“Don’t make me cry cause I promised I wouldn’t do this. Get closer, now get front row.”

The drunk fan then started leaving and Dave quickly told him to get back “right here, front row”, pointing to a spot right in front of the stage.

“I’m going to sing this to your crying grown man ass right now… …you drunk, emotional mess.”

The drunk man eventually got up on stage and the two shared a hug before Grohl serenaded him to My Hero. Grohl, who has been recovering from a broken leg, took to his feet in the performance while the drunk fan was told to take a seat.

Watch the memorable performance below:

Wow, Grohl, you are OUR HERO!
