At most weddings guests are treated to a simple yet enjoyable perk, the open bar. For guests attending one Oregon couple’s wedding though, they got something a little bit different.

When John Elledge and his fiancé, Whitney Alexander, decided to tie the knot they thought about having something different at their wedding, a weed bar. With Oregon’s recent legalization of recreational pot use, the couple’s wedding plans became a reality.

According to USA Today, the couple had their wedding on a Christmas tree farm. Besides being a cool place to have your wedding, this proved beneficial in allowing them to have a weed bar.

“On private property where no liquor license is involved, it is legal,” Mark Pettinger with the Oregon Liquor Control Commission, told USA Today.

The couple made sure to cross their t’s and dot their i’s with the weed bar and kept the amount of pot to be consumed to a legal limit.

“We made sure we were legal,” Elledge said, “We know the limit is 8 ounces so we had small amounts of 13 varieties with a budtender controlling consumption.”

All in all, with the planning and execution, the newlyweds managed to wow their guests with the unique perk to their wedding.

“We were shocked by how much people loved it,” Elledge said. “I’m still getting a couple of texts a day from guests who enjoyed the weed tent.”
